Present Participle (V+ing)



The present participle of most verbs has the form base/Verb+ing. It is used in many different ways.
1.      THE PRESENT PARTICIPLE AS PART OF THE CONTINUOUS FORM OF A VERB
Example:
-          I am working.
-          He was singing.
-          They have been walking.
-          We will be staying.
-          She would have been expecting me.

2.      THE PRESENT PARTICIPLE AFTER VERBS OF MOVEMENT AND POSITION

Anshori           : “Good afternoon.”
David              : “Afternoon, why do you look so sad?.”
Anshori           : “Really? I think i’m okay. Why do you think so?.”
David              : “Well, in my point of view your face is gloomy.”
Anshori           : “Yeah, actually i’m rather sad.”
David              : “Oh, i’d like to know why, if you want to share with me.”
Anshori           : “I think it because my girlfriend abandoned me.”
